Modern lifestyles experienced by many people today contain long periods of time spent sedentary.  Scientific studies have shown this has negative effects on our metabolism which can lead to health issues including diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

This live research project consisted of the development of a wrist-worn activity monitor to support a more active lifestyle in the over 50s age group.

Employing a user-centered design approach, in the form of interviews with potential end users, the aesthetic form of the device was defined with influence on its mechanical design and product architecture.

The value proposition was also explored and a product story and narrative were produced and illustrated containing the reasons to believe in the product.  This research was conducted on behalf of Unilever as part of a sponsored bursary.
